梅雨入りしたと思ったら、気温もぐんぐん上がり、湿度の高い日々が続いています。 皆様くれぐれも熱中症などにはお気を付けください。 さて、このところ私はウォーキングに行くのがひとつの楽しみとなっています。時間を見つけては小1時間も歩くと、きれいな田園風景や川辺に出会います。先日も川沿いを歩いていたら、カモの親子が泳いでいました。川の流れに負けまいと親に必死についていく小カモ達がとても可愛らしく、癒されるひと時でした。 歩くことでしか出会えない景色を求めて、しばらくこの習慣を楽しんでいきたいと思います。 Blueberry

Hello! 最近新型コロナの影響があちらこちらに出ており、ジムに行けない方も多いのではないでしょうか。体を健康にし、強くすることで、ウイルスやその他の病気にかかりにくくなると思いますので、今日はAb Roller Wheel (腹筋ローラー)を紹介したいです。このローラーは上半身全体が一気に鍛えられるとても効率がいい器具です。私は自宅でシャワーを浴びる前にこのローラーを使っています。最初は難しいので膝をつきながらやりましょう。ある程度慣れてきたら膝なしでできるようになります。お値段もそんなに高くないので簡単に始められます。 もし今自宅にいる時間が多く、運動不足の方は、是非ローラー以外のことでも体を動かしてあげて下さい。 Jin

10月になっても汗ばむ日々が続いておりましたが、ようやく秋風が心地よい頃となりました。 10月といえばハロウィン。この頃は町中でかわいらしいハロウィンの飾りを多く見かけるようになり、ついつい足を止めて眺めてしまいます。 さて、ハロウィンの飾りはたくさんありますが、Jackがさまよう際に持ち歩いたともされるランタン、jack-o’-lanternは定番ですね。日本ではプラッスチックや陶器で出来たものを多く見かけますが、最近はスーパーでもハロウィン用の生カボチャを売っているところもあるようです。私も以前作った経験がありますが、くりぬいたカボチャに明かりを灯すと、とても雰囲気が出て面白いです！皆様も、機会がありましたら本物のカボチャで作ってみてはいかがでしょうか？あまり日持ちしないため、直前の作業をおすすめします！ […]

皆さん、吹きガラスは体験されたことありますか？ 私は9年近く吹きガラスを趣味でやっています。 吹きガラスは溶けたガラスが入っている溶解炉から約1000以上のガラスを吹竿で巻き取ります。 巻き取り中はとにかく熱いです。 巻き取り後そのガラスが垂れてしまうので竿は完成するまで回し続けなければなりません。 息を入れて膨らませたり、もちろん素手で触れないのでいくつか道具を使いながら形成していきます。 完成したら約500度の徐冷炉で1日かけて冷まします。 製作中はキケンもあるのでガラスから目を離すことが出来きません。 四苦八苦しながらも私にとっては”無”になれる時間です。 この時期、夏の工房内の温度は50度近くなります。 それでも吹きガラスは楽しいです！ Naoko

Hello! 梅雨で雨が多い日の中、いよいよ８月も目前に迫ってきました。 私の中で夏といえばお祭りです！ 暑い夏をみんなで騒いで乗り越えるのが大好きな自分ですが、今日はある英単語を紹介したいと思います。 “お神輿” 夏にお神輿を担ぐ機会があるのですがなんと言うのかすごく気になっていました。 英語に訳すと “portable shrine” portableは持ち運び可能な物を表す時に使いますがまさかshrineに使えるとはとても面白いですね。 英語は日本語と違いシンプルで直接的に訳せるのがとても魅力だと感じることがあります。 夏休みで授業も二週間お休みとなりますが毎日少しでも英語に触れておくだけでも違いますので頑張っていきましょう！ See you a […]
